    AlabamaCAN

Alabama now has a new tool for helping victims assert their rights and stay informed—a new victim website at victims.alabama.gov with a new automated victim registration system, through that website called AlabamaCAN (Alabama Crime Victims Automated Notification System). The victim website was created and designed by the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center in partnership with the Alabama Attorney General’s Office, the Alabama Sheriff’s Association, the Alabama Department of Corrections, the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles, the Alabama District Attorneys Association, the Administrative Office of Courts, the Alabama Crime Victims Compensation Commission, as well as victim advocates. The website is a one-stop online access point for Alabama crime victims. It will provide victims with control over the information they choose to access, including information about the status of offenders, and victim resources at any time of day or night, from any computer with Internet access. Thanks to Act. 2011-681 passed by the Alabama Legislature it is now possible for victims to obtain information about hearings scheduled for offenders before the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles through AlabamaCAN.

AlaVINE

The Alabama State Victim Notification Service (AlaVINE) is a service through which victims of crime can use the telephone or internet to search for information regarding their offender's custody status and register to receive telephone and e-mail notification when the offender's custody status changes. This service is brought to you by the Alabama Attorney General's Office and the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center. The VINE toll-free number for AlaVINE is 1-877-846-3425.  Visit the AlaVINE website today.
